The first clinic of its kind, the FSU Health Lifestyle Medicine Clinic combines the holistic approach of functional medicine with the expertise of nursing faculty. Our clinic comprises of nurse practitioners and faculty members of the FSU College of Nursing . Together, these practitioners can address the root causes of many illnesses and provide a unique approach to care that combines standard medicine with lifestyle habits to treat and prevent chronic illness.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered Primary and Lifestyle Medicine care that aligns with the clinic's focus, goals, and objectives while adhering to current standards of care.
  • Performs comprehensive physical examinations and evaluates patients presenting with health concerns across FSU Health clinics and other assigned clinical practice locations. In accordance with applicable Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) protocols, scope of practice, and clinic policies, assesses and diagnoses illnesses and injuries and develops appropriate plans of care. Orders and interprets diagnostic laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other procedures as medically indicated. Initiates evidence-based treatments, interventions, referrals, and follow-up care consistent with established clinical protocols and current standards of practice. Incorporates Primary and Lifestyle Medicine principles, including prevention, health promotion, chronic disease management, and patient education, into the delivery of patient-centered care. Maintains professional, respectful, and responsive communication with patients, families, clinic staff, healthcare partners, and other external parties.
  • Documents the patient history, physical and emotional state, diagnostic findings and treatment in the patient's medical record/EMR.
  • Reviews and discusses with patient the results of laboratory, x-ray, and other procedures. Makes indicated referrals to other specialists/consultants as necessary.
  • Collaborates with the physician and/or APRN's regarding patient management as clinically appropriate. Provides medication refills and addresses other clinical needs for clinic patients, including coverage for other nurse practitioners when they are unavailable, to ensure continuity of care and timely response to patient needs. May perform indicated minor surgical and non-invasive diagnostic procedures.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Valid Florida licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Within 30 days of hire, the candidate must provide:
    • Documentation of Tetanus immunization within 10 years.
    • Documentation of current PPD (Purified Protein Derivative) test as performed by a qualified physician, reporting negative results.
