Responsible for sourcing and purchasing technical materials, components, and services to support operations, with an emphasis on supply assurance, compliance with established procurement and quality processes, and strong supplier coordination. This role executes buying and MRP-related activities, supports approved vendor and procurement compliance requirements, and drives continuous improvement in cost, quality, and delivery performance for assigned materials and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, maintain, and manage purchase orders in accordance with procurement policies; confirm order acknowledgements, expedite as needed, and resolve receiving/invoice discrepancies
  • Monitor supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness) and coordinate issue resolution and corrective actions with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Execute MRP activities, analyze supply/demand signals, and take proactive actions to prevent shortages while minimizing excess/obsolete inventory
  • Support supplier selection and onboarding activities for assigned materials; maintain supplier records, pricing, lead times, and other master data
  • Support AVL (Approved Vendor List) and procurement compliance requirements by ensuring required documentation is current and partnering with Quality/Regulatory on updates
  • Participate in negotiations for pricing, lead times, and terms within authority limits; prepare supporting documentation for approvals as needed
  • Identify and implement cost, quality, and service improvement opportunities for assigned materials/suppliers; track results and communicate updates to stakeholders
  • Track and report KPIs (e.g., OTD, quality, PPV/savings, inventory health); analyze trends and escalate risks or constraints as appropriate
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, and Warehouse to support production schedules, issue resolution, and new product introductions

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in procurement/buying, preferably supporting manufacturing and/or technical materials
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing purchase orders, expediting, and resolving invoice/receiving discrepancies
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems for purchasing and supply planning; SAP APO experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of supplier performance management and basic negotiations (price, lead time, MOQ) within established guidelines
  • Strong understanding of supply chain fundamentals (lead times, MOQ, safety stock, inventory) and end-to-end purchasing execution (POs, expediting, discrepancy resolution)
  • Working knowledge of supplier qualification/AVL governance, change control, and documentation expectations in a regulated or quality-driven environment
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and collaborate with Engineering/Operations/Quality to ensure correct material selection and supply continuity
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize and lead issue resolution in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (analysis, pivot tables) and procurement/ERP reporting; able to build KPI views and translate data into actions
  • Travel: Up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPM, CPSM, CSCP, or similar certification
  • Experience purchasing raw materials and/or technical commodities (chemicals, packaging, additives, or critical components) with complex specifications
  • Experience supporting audits, supplier quality agreements, and regulatory documentation requirements
  • Advanced SAP APO planning capabilities and strong data analysis skills (Power BI or similar a plus)
