Prep Cook Position Summary
The prep cook is a crucial member of the kitchen team, responsible for preparing ingredients and assisting in the smooth operation of food preparation. They work closely with the head chef and line cooks to ensure that all necessary ingredients are properly prepared and organized before cooking for all in-service areas.

Prep Cook Position Summary
The prep cook is a crucial member of the kitchen team, responsible for preparing ingredients and assisting in the smooth operation of food preparation. They work closely with the head chef and line cooks to ensure that all necessary ingredients are properly prepared and organized before cooking for all in-service areas.
Prep Cook Responsibilities
- Familiar with different cuts of meats, fish, and fowl; able to cut, bone and trim per recipe requirement or established protocol.
- Cuts and prepares ingredients to be used in the preparation of foods, sauces and soups used on the cook's line, as per recipe requirements.
- Daily clean-up of food preparation areas, equipment, floors, and tables.
- Daily organize food preparation areas, freezers, coolers, and storerooms.
- Date, store products and properly rotate foods by date
- Maintains accuracy of production worksheets, wall charts, and other inventory records
- Accepts, confirms, labels, and stores incoming deliveries
- Notifies manager of any quality concerns with deliveries and/or products.
- Follows all job safety and food safety procedures
- Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings
- Maintains confidentiality of members' PHI (Protected Health Information) and medical records information as well.
- This position is considered an essential role and the incumbent may be required to work during emergency situations including natural disasters.
- All other duties assigned.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma
- Six months food preparation experience and/or training
- Must be able to read and understand written instructions
- Able to communicate effectively
- Ability to read and understand recipes
- This individual will need to be empathetic, energetic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population.
