We are seeking a caring, dependable, and safety-focused Pediatric Shuttle Bus Driver to safely transport children from birth through eight years old and accompanying nursing staff to and from our Pediatric Day Health Center.
This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule with morning and afternoon transportation routes. The ideal candidate will be available to work both routes, which generally provides approximately 30 hours per week. Candidates who are available for only the morning or afternoon route may also be considered, with one route generally providing approximately 15 hours per week.
Route times and scheduled hours may vary depending on transportation assignments, center operations, and business needs.

\ud83d\udcbc Pay and Schedule
- Competitive pay: $15.00-$18.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday.
- Morning route: Approximately 6:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.
- Afternoon route: Approximately 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Both routes: Approximately six hours per day or 30 hours per week.
- One route: Approximately three hours per day or 15 hours per week.
- Preferred availability: The ideal candidate will be available to work both routes.
- No regularly scheduled nights, weekends, or holidays.

This is a part-time position and is not benefits-eligible.

\ud83d\udeb8 What You\u2019ll Do
- Safely and promptly transport children from birth through eight years old and accompanying nursing staff to and from the Pediatric Day Health Center.
- Transport children and staff during approved field trips and other scheduled activities.
- Assist staff with safely loading and unloading children, child safety seats, and necessary equipment.
- Confirm that children are properly secured and comfortable before operating the bus.
- Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety checks.
- Maintain accurate mileage, inspection, and vehicle check logs.
- Keep the interior and exterior of the bus clean.
- Ensure the bus is fueled and ready for daily operation.
- Monitor the condition of the bus and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Help coordinate routine vehicle maintenance as assigned.
- Maintain required vehicle documents, licenses, inspections, and other records.
- Communicate professionally with families, nurses, caregivers, and center staff.
- Follow all traffic laws, child transportation requirements, safety procedures, confidentiality standards, and professional boundaries.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies during transportation.
- Run approved errands as needed.
- Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team and follow the appropriate chain of command.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
\u2705 Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid Florida driver\u2019s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
- Must have held an active driver\u2019s license for at least five years.
- At least three years of safe driving experience.
- Ability to safely operate the bus used by the Pediatric Day Health Center.
- Current CPR and first aid certification, generally completed before the employee\u2019s start date. Exceptions may be considered in accordance with Aveanna Healthcare requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, nurses, caregivers, and center staff.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or emergency situations.
- Commitment to safety, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and teamwork.
A Commercial Driver\u2019s License, passenger endorsement, or school bus endorsement is not required for this position.
Preferred, but Not Required
- Professional driving or passenger transportation experience.
- Experience operating a shuttle bus or other passenger vehicle.
- Experience working with children.
- Experience working with children who have complex medical, developmental, or mobility needs.
- Experience in pediatric healthcare, childcare, daycare, school transportation, shuttle transportation, or non-emergency medical transportation.
- Ability to speak or understand Spanish.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Must be able to safely operate a bus and monitor vehicle lights, sounds, alarms, and safety equipment.
- Must be able to assist with safely loading and unloading children and necessary equipment.
- Must be able to walk, climb stairs, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch as required.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to transfer or reposition children independently or with assistance when necessary.
- Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to the needs of children during transportation.
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations during transport, including providing physical assistance or CPR when necessary.
- Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to safely operate required equipment.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in buses, pediatric care settings, family environments, and community locations.
- The position may involve exposure to communicable diseases, blood, bodily fluids, latex, allergens, and other conditions associated with pediatric healthcare environments.
- Required personal protective equipment must be worn as appropriate.
- Transportation may occur in varying weather, road, and traffic conditions.
