Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Manager to be responsible for the Post-Payroll Activities associated with our payroll operations in the US and Canada, serving approximately 55,000 employees. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of post-payroll processes including the provision of payroll accounting data to Finance systems, reconciliation of finance-related payroll output, payroll tax processes and filings, and post-payroll reporting. In addition, this role is responsible for managing the integration of data between Payroll and Benefits providers and Leave Management activities. The Manager will work with our third-party payroll outsourcing partner and the internal Siemens businesses to ensure the effective and efficient execution of these processes.
Responsibilities:
Payroll Accounting & General Ledger (GL):
- Oversee the accurate and timely delivery of finance-related payroll data to the Finance systems of the Siemens businesses for US and Canada
- Reconciliation of all finance-related payroll outputs provided by our third-party payroll outsourcing partner; investigation of discrepancies and corrective journal entries where appropriate
- Work closely with the Finance departments of Siemens businesses to provide explanations and analysis of payroll data where required, and to ensure that the payroll data fulfils requirements for financial reporting
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls over payroll accounting processes
- Drive end-to-end process improvements and process optimization
Payroll Tax Filing & Compliance:
- Working with our third party payroll provider, manage and ensure the accurate and timely filing of all US federal, state, and local payroll taxes, as well as Canadian federal and provincial payroll taxes (e.g., CRA, Revenue Québec).
- Oversee the reconciliation of tax filings and payments made by the outsourcing partner
- Lead year-end processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting and reconciliation of all payroll taxes in US and Canada, and distribution of tax forms
- Stay current with changes in US and Canadian payroll tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company and outsourcing partner remain compliant.
- Coordinate and support internal and external payroll tax audits.
- Address and resolve any tax notices or inquiries from government agencies.
Post Payroll Reporting:
- Partner with our third party payroll provider, Siemens internal reporting team and the Siemens businesses to identify reporting requirements and to provide agreed payroll reports in the most efficient and effective way possible
Benefits Data Management:
- Oversee the accurate and timely transmission of benefits-related data (e.g., deductions, contributions, enrollment changes) between the payroll system, HRIS, and benefits providers.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of benefits deductions and employer contributions with vendor invoices.
- Collaborate with the Benefits team to resolve any data discrepancies or issues related to payroll processing.
- Support benefits audits by providing necessary payroll data and documentation.
Leave Administration
- Manage the payroll impacts of employee leaves, ensuring compliance with all pay requirements and accurate calculation and processing of leave‑related pay.
- Validate leave transactions and collaborate closely with HR and third‑party leave administrators to ensure timely, accurate, and properly documented payroll results.
Process Improvement & Documentation:
- Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize post-payroll processes, leveraging technology and best practices.
- Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all post-payroll activities. Ensure process documentation is current, accurate, and easily accessible.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of payroll specialists/analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
- Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support professional growth opportunities for team members.
- Delegate tasks effectively and manage workload distribution within the team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in payroll operations, with a strong foundation in post‑payroll activities such as reconciliations, reporting, compliance, and issue resolution.
- Experience supporting end‑to‑end payroll operations for U.S. and Canadian employee populations within regulated environments.
- Demonstrated experience working with third‑party payroll service providers, including coordination, oversight, and issue management to ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery.
- Solid knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, as well as Canadian federal and provincial requirements, including CRA and Revenu Québec.
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting principles, including gross‑to‑net calculations, accruals, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Experience integrating and reconciling payroll data related to benefits, deductions, and employer contributions across systems and partners.
- Working knowledge of leave administration programs (such as FMLA, state and provincial paid leave, disability, and other statutory leaves), with the ability to support accurate payroll processing, compliance, and effective collaboration with HR, benefits, and third‑party partners.
- Proficient in English both written and verbal.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with SOX controls, internal audits, and external payroll-related audits.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll and tax topics to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting multi-state and multi-province payroll environments with complex tax and compliance requirements.

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
