E & D Scaffold Supervisor

Job Description

The role of the E&D Supervisor is to supervise and assist the Scaffold Builder I & Scaffold Builder II during erect, move, and dismantle scaffold, swing stage, and mast climber jobs in a safe, efficient manner while abiding with all Osha/Ansi regulations. The E&D Supervisor must have the ability to read plans and drawings, understand the scope of work and apply the layout to the builds, and keep costs within the given gross margin. The E&D Supervisor is accountable for all documentation for all jobs including crew time sheets, per job JHA, inspection reports, Contractors Acceptance of Service, Extra Work Authorizations, Delivery and Pickup Tickets for each job. One must be able to identify potential hazards and ensure crew members are following safety guidelines per United Rentals policy as well as Osha regulations. The individual is responsible for all inventory of material at the job sites. The E&D Supervisor is responsible for communicating with the customer, E&D Operations Mgr, and OSR regarding such builds. Individual must be able to manage and direct small crews in a positive learning environment.

Essential Duties

• Overall Operations:
• Perform and supervisor job E&D jobs in a safe manner following United Rentals policy and Osha/Ansi regulations.
• Ensure all PPE & Fall Protection is being worn by all employees at all jobs and United Rentals Yard.
• Oversee jobs are performed in a productive manner conducive to job profitability.
• Support all aspects of sales and customer service to ensure world-class service and operational excellence, including communications with customer, OSR, E&D Operations Mgr, and Branch Mgr.
• Responsible that builds are completed as per Osha Regulations.
• Process and obtain signatures for all documentation for each job: JHA, crew time sheets, delivery and pickup tickets, Contractors Acceptance of Service, Scaffold/Swing stage/Mast Climber inspection checklist.
• Obtain a Medical Card and a valid driver's license in good standing with minimal points.
• Communicate the meeting area for team for pickup and drop off before and after jobs.
• Keep E&D vehicle within the 5S standards at all times.
• All other duties as assigned by E&D Operations Mgr and Branch Mgr.

• Leadership & Supervision:
• Responsible for performance management of direct staff including Scaffold Builder I and Scaffold Builder II. Provide leadership and supervision needed to consistently deliver world-class service to customers.
• Motivate, coach and train personnel.
• Responsible for employee communication and satisfaction, ensure compliance with processes and policies and provide guidance and coaching where needed.
• As assigned, schedule personnel and maintain accurate and up-to-date time & attendance records.
• Responsible for helping to resolve issues where staff needs assistance - following the established escalation process.
• As needed, coordinate new hire on-boarding and employee on-going training.
• Where applicable, maintain productive labor relations with union steward and ensure compliance with labor agreement in force.
• Provide regular performance feedback. Reward and recognize employees to reinforce positive behaviors. Promptly develop and present individualized Performance Improvement Plans as needed.

• Safety:
• Promote a culture of safety and discipline through leadership, exemplary personal compliance, accountability and communication.
• Aggressively promote, communicate, and implement all corporate, region and area safety objectives, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure total compliance throughout all facility. Prompt incident/accident/near-miss investigations and resolution. Hold all associates and employees accountable for compliance and prevention.
• Collaborate with all Safety officials and corporate risk management to ensure the support of prescribed safety programs, including audits, safety training, OSHA compliance, and DOT regulations.
• Responsible for aggressive and continuous performance improvement in injury recordable rate and near-miss reporting.
• Ensure all employees continually maintain all required operator/Osha certifications and licenses.
• Maintain overall cleanliness of office, shop, yard, and common areas.

Education
• Bachelors Degree preferred

Experience
• Minimum 3 years of scaffold experience or equivalent construction experience.
• Supervision and leadership experience (2+ years) preferred
• Understanding of accounting and P&L concepts preferred
• Equipment rental experience
• Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence others
• Proficient in most Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and Rentalman

• Bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with material for prolonged periods of time.
• Frequent lifting up to 50lbs
• Frequent need to work at heights above 6 ft and on roof tops of high rises.
• Frequent work outdoors and occasional indoors.
