JOB SUMMARY.

This provides supervision of student assistant staff and is responsible for OPS budget management at the Education Library.

Additional include management of circulation activities, fines/billing, stacks management, and contributing to overall development of access services policies and procedures library-wide.

Provides direct service to faculty as well as processes and digitizes materials for access.

Serves as liaison to outside departments including Library HR, Facilities, and IT.

Serves on library committees or workgroups as appointed.

Provides administrative support and leadership for various library projects and initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES.

Access Services Functions.

Manages Education Library service desk (circulation, reference, media/equipment) and coordinates desk schedule for library staff and student employees.

Contributes to the development of campus-wide library access services policies/procedures through service on the Access Support Steering Committee, and develops and documents local procedures for the Education Library.

Maintains all documents related to access services and related functions, including internal websites.

Serves as liaison to other access services units across campus.

Collects, documents, and reports public services statistics.

Acts as backup for Course Reserve processing as needed.

Administrative Support.

Monitors general facilities issues such as lighting, maintenance, environmental control, etc.

, and reports problems to appropriate library and University departments.

Monitors technology issues, troubleshoots, and reports issues to appropriate library and University departments.

Provides ad hoc administrative support for two library faculty including the generation of LMS reports as needed.

Serves on library committees and contributes to special projects as assigned.

Generates reports as needed or requested by librarians.

Report equipment or software problems to the UF Libraries Information Technology Office using the GROVER ticket system.

Maintains a current inventory of all equipment.

Participates in discussions about and recommends solutions to specific problems relating to equipment.

Maintains the Education Library website in collaboration with the Education Librarians.

Student Supervision.

Supervises student assistants including interviewing, hiring, time reporting, performance evaluations, training, and daily work operations.

Maintains OPS Student Assistant payroll budget.

Works closely with the Head Librarian to formulate and communicate policies and procedures to ensure continuous goal setting, timely work completion, excellent staff cooperation and communication.

Maintenance of Education Library Stacks.

Oversees maintenance of library stacks to ensure that collections are accessible through activities such as shelving, shelf reading, and proper signage.

Directs work of student employees charged with shelving, shelf reading, and other collection maintenance activities.

Maintains procedures and documentation related to local collection maintenance functions.

Assists with space planning and collection use studies by monitoring the growth and use of the collection.

Coordinates transfers to offsite storage facilities.

Supervises searching for lost/missing materials; and, facilitates selector evaluation for replacing titles.

Public Services Desk.

Works scheduled hours at the service desk.

Includes opening/closing if scheduled.

Performs basic and supervisory level circulation system transactions and responds appropriately to patron inquiries about circulation matters.

Provides general reference assistance and help with directional queries, and makes referrals to other staff when appropriate.

Helps to maintain an environment conducive for study and research by ensuring that policies are observed.

Fines/Billing Operations.

Supervises processing of operations reports and notices.

Bills and refunds patron accounts according to established procedures.

Maintains fines/billing documentation including reports from Student Financial Affairs according to established procedures.

Investigates problem reports.

Communicates promptly and effectively with patrons regarding fines/billing matters.

Advertised Salary:$39,529 annual salary; Actual rate will reflect experience and credentials.

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor s degree and four years of related library experience; or a Master s degree and two years of related library experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.

Preferred Experience providing and/or managing access services (circulation, reference) in an academic library.

Experience tracking and managing budgets.

Experience with supervision and training.

Experience providing customer service.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to accomplish goals.

Experience producing and manipulating digital files including PDFs and multiple image/audio/video formats.

Experience using ExLibris ALEPH library management system.

Experience using PeopleSoft.

Experience creating reports and generating statistics.

Degree or substantial knowledge in the field of Education.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Flexibility, and ability to adapt and work in a rapidly changing academic environment.

Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
